Position Summary
The Athletics Fund Development Officer works closely with Advancement and Athletics to build and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy for varsity athletics. This role focuses on cultivating strong relationships with alumni and supporters, driving fundraising initiatives, and enhancing alumni engagement to support the priorities of StFX varsity teams. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who excels at identifying, developing, and stewarding donors with the capacity to make significant philanthropic contributions
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage daily fundraising operations for StFX Athletics, soliciting gifts from alumni, corporate partners, and supporters to generate current-use dollars for varsity teams.
- Lead the development and execution of annual and major gift plans, targeting a minimum of $350,000 in fundraising revenue.
- Cultivate and steward strong relationships with athletic alumni, donors, and supporters, including donor recognition and communication.
- Track and manage donor activity and gift cycles, ensuring accurate monitoring, reporting, and closing of donations.
- Ensure ethical fundraising practices, including appropriate receipting and compliance with university and fundraising standards.
- Collaborate with coaches and alumni volunteers to plan, execute, and report on team fundraising initiatives (e.g., PAC, X-Nation, Back the Blue).
- Administer and coordinate the weekly Athletics online 50/50 program, including logistics, marketing support, and team communication.
- Oversee the Adopt an Athlete program, working with coaches to optimize fundraising outcomes and providing marketing and communication support.
- Support and/or lead logistics for Athletics events such as the Kehoe Golf Classic, Hall of Fame Induction, Athletics Awards Gala, and championship alumni events.
- Assist senior Development leadership with major fundraising campaigns, including support for campaign cabinets, meetings, and administrative duties.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree with two to three years relevant working experience.
- Proven sales/fund raising/relationship development experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the specific ability to create and present written proposals.
- Ability to electronically track, monitor, record and close donation cycles with individuals.
- Knowledge of fund development and related development phases (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation).
- Must be familiar with all social mediums of communication and manage online environments.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders including senior officials of the University, colleagues, coaches, student and alumni athletes, and athletic supporters.
