What is the opportunity?

Liquidity Management is considered key to the bank's ability to absorb risk and maintain a competitive advantage and good standing with regulatory community. Corporate Treasury's liquidity management group is responsible for the establishment of the liquidity risk strategy, risk appetite, risk control structure, and contingency planning for the RBC financial group. The CT Liquidity Management group provides enterprise-wide direction, oversight, evaluation, recommendation, and stress event readiness to the Corporate Treasurer and business lines.

This role contributes to the group by analyzing and supporting the contingent liquidity management obligations of Corporate Treasury primarily through the Contingent Liquidity Plan, and Recovery and Resolution Plans. The role is instrumental in developing and coalescing the bank's complex liquidity position through liquidity scenario models and analysis in order to form a cohesive articulation of the bank's ability to withstand stress events. The role will primarily interface with other Corporate Treasury groups domestically and internationally to support stress reporting and analysis, including in depth liquidity risk analysis of RBC's global balance sheet and numerous legal entity structures. The role also monitors and reports internal reports and external market developments for early indicators of liquidity stress and escalates in a timely manner. This role contributes to a team that is a first line responder in times of financial stress, supporting senior management with ad hoc information support in rapidly changing environments and will provide learning into the bank's complex liquidity contingency strategies and capabilities.

What you will do?

  • Produce consolidated enterprise liquidity stress model results, notably those subject to Board compliance in conjunction with the global network of reporting teams and technology partners.
  • Reconcile and explain differences between reported liquidity metrics and stress results.
  • Preparing scorecards and key liquidity dashboards for the monthly Liquidity Crisis Team.
  • Support analysis and modelling requirements for the enterprise-wide Recovery and Resolution Plans in consort with CT and GRM partners.
  • Generate and maintain any ad hoc analysis, research, modelling, and presentation requests spanning all businesses and regional balance sheets.
  • Enhance sources and uses analysis of liquidity
  • Intraday enhancements to be incorporated into the internal stress test.
  • Update frequency reporting to weekly to produce the NCF in compliance with other reports
  • Enhance and update a forecasting report to align internal metrics.

What you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Pertinent university business degree or equivalent to meet minimum technical requirements of the job
  • 3+ years of broad and pertinent experience in related fields
  • Good technical and practical knowledge of liquidity metrics such as LCR and NSFR and/or bank balance sheet management and/or modelling, and/or scenario modelling that can be applied to asset liability management
  • Basic understanding and interest in the role of banking in the macro economic environment and causes and impacts of prior banking crisis
  • Knowledge of the:
    • structure of RBC Financial Group or a similar large international bank
    • purposes and goals of the banking business model
    • demonstrated understanding of various banking products: bonds, equities, derivatives, loans, deposits, short sales and repo transactions

Nice to Have

  • CA, CPA, MBA, CFA, or equivalent Master's degree are assets to be able to better meet technical and organizational skills requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with business intelligence and/or data management tools (e.g., Tableau, SQL, Snowflake)
