About the Role
As we continue to expand our projects and land pipeline, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the finance and accounting function. This role is part of a long-term succession plan, with a clear path to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as the company continues to expand its portfolio and operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with ownership and senior leadership, supporting both day-to-day financial management and longer-term strategic initiatives across multiple entities and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, payroll, job costing, and general ledger.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage project budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for multiple developments.
Implement and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
Support executive leadership with strategic financial planning, cash flow management, and cost analysis.
Oversee reporting and relationships with our Chartered Banks and other Financial Institutions.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff; foster a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Collaborate with construction managers, project managers, and sales teams to ensure financial visibility across all projects.
CFO Progression Path
The Controllership role will evolve to include:
Enterprise-level financial strategy and long-term capital planning
Financing structures for land acquisition and development projects
Lender, investor, and stakeholder relationships
Support for acquisitions, joint ventures, and new development initiatives
Executive leadership and governance responsibilities
A structured development plan will be established, with progression to CFO anticipated within 3-5 years subject to performance, readiness, and business needs.
Qualifications
CPA designation required
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
Previous Controller or senior accounting role in construction or real estate development preferred
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project-based accounting
Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting
Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
Strong communication skills and executive presence
