The Corporate Services and Community Funding Division provides departmental services including financial management, strategic planning and performance excellence, as well as oversight of human resources management and information technology development and support. It provides oversight and administration services for the Canada Community Building Fund, and the provincial Environmental Trust Fund. The division provides technical support and engineering advice to communities in addressing their infrastructure concerns as they relate to the applicable funding programs.

The Department of Environment and Local Government provides integrated stewardship through planning and management of land use, and waste management issues. It ensures effective enforcement of, and compliance with, environmental legislation and regulations and provides effective consultation and liaison with local governments, regional service commissions and Rural Districts on governance related issues.

What you will do?
As a member of the Records Management team reporting to the Director of Information Management Services Branch, your primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Development, implementation, and management of the Departmental Records and Information Management (RIM) program. This includes the oversight of the electronic document and records management software environment. (OpenText).
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, guidelines and tools, with respect to the appropriate management of paper and digital records
  • The evaluation of modern solutions for better management of digital records; the development and implementation of records and information strategies, plans and business cases, classification schemes and retention schedules.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and operational obligations; provide supervision and development of staff in the RIM unit; provide departmental staff with support and advisory services in RIM, developing material on RIM responsibilities; and implement best practices to support the RIM program.
  • Seeking solutions to assist with modernization of the current program and the development of strategies to better manage digital records, shared information and business application data.

Essential qualifications

  • University degree in the area of Library and Information Studies, Information Management, Archival Science, Information Technology or a related degree (Business, Arts,Applied Arts) and four (4) years related work experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory capacity OR a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a related field with course work in records/document management or information technology and a minimum of six (6) years related work experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory capacity OR a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of eight (8) years related work experience in records/document management or information technology, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory capacity.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience working with an Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS)
  • Experience working with SharePoint
  • Experience working with OpenText
  • Experience with business application data

Wage
Pay Band 4: $2,249 to $3,145 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week

Work environment

  • Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
