What you will do:
The Director of Arts and Culture leads and directs the development, implementation, and monitoring of government programs, policies, and strategies supporting the arts and cultural industries (film, television and new media, music and sound recording, book and periodical publishing, visual arts and fine craft). The Director leads the Branch in facilitating community cultural development and the economic development of New Brunswick's cultural industries through advisory services, financial assistance, and technical services for arts organizations, associations and community. This is done through the delivery of the arts and cultural industries portfolios.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading, directing, approving, monitoring, and reporting on the services and programs designed for the arts and culture sectors
- Overseeing the development and implementation of the comprehensive strategic plan that articulates the vision, direction, and operational imperatives related to the arts and culture sectors, along with the key performance indicators to measure and monitor the effectiveness and impact of the plan
- Ensuring effective and beneficial relationships exist with key stakeholders and partners
- Collaborating with other Tourism, Heritage and Culture branches along with other government departments in shaping and implementing priorities to support the arts and culture sectors
- Preparing budget estimates, prioritizing operational requirements; overseeing spending, analyzing variances; developing strategies to address budget pressures, reviewing, and approving contracts, and reviewing and approving business cases including the preparation of Memorandums to Executive Council (MECs) when required
- Ensuring the results and impacts of grant investments are reviewed, monitored and reported and help inform future improvements
- Providing briefings and recommendations to senior management
- Participating on various committees, task forces and working groups
- Supporting the branch's participation in the Federal/Provincial/Territorial table on Culture
- Other related duties as required

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- University degree in Public Administration, Fine Arts, or Business administration or a related discipline and a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience
- 5 years of supervisory/management experience in leading a team
- Considerable experience in using Microsoft Office 365 software and applications
- Considerable experience and knowledge of project and change management
- Knowledge of outcome and measurement frameworks
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
Pay Band 7 - $3,585.00 to $4,338.00 bi-weekly
Work environment:
- Office location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
- Open office layout
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15AM - 4:30PM
- Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours
