TD Innovation Partners (TDIP) is a full-service innovation banking platform providing bespoke, high-touch banking and financial services to address the unique challenges, opportunities and needs of technology entrepreneurs from ideation to IPO and beyond. This includes banking and lending products, principal investments and private banking solutions.

The team collaborates with the most innovative technology and venture-backed companies across Canada from the earliest stages to those that are later stage and publicly traded, leveraging their industry knowledge and extensive deal structuring experience to offer a full suite of customized credit and cash management solutions to meet the complex needs of our clients.

Job Description

We are seeking a Relationship Manager to buildout the Quebec and Atlantic market. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business from the ground up along with owning and developing a market.

Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:

Actively source and develop new client relationships within their market, building trust and understanding their business needs to identify potential financial services opportunities.

Manage key investor relationships including venture capitalist and sponsors who focus on technology and the innovation economy.

Represent TDIP's principal investment strategy to complement market development and ecosystem engagement.

Business Development:

Lead the sales process by presenting TDIP's banking solutions, structuring loan packages, and negotiating terms to secure new business deals.

Build or leverage your existing networks to be the go-to-banker in innovation ecosystem by hosting, attending industry events and engaging with key industry stakeholders and associations like accelerators and incubators.

Portfolio Management:

Oversee a portfolio of existing clients, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction with TDIP services, proactively addressing any concerns, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling additional products.

Industry Expertise:

Stay updated on industry trends and developments within their specific market sector (e.g., fintech, healthcare IT, software) to effectively advise clients.

Have an equal fluid understanding of earl-stage; growth oriented and scaled cash-flow producing companies

Market Analysis:

Monitor market dynamics and competitive landscape within their region to identify potential new business opportunities and adjust strategy accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Driven, self-starter and deep desire to succeed.

  • Intellectually curious and can navigate ambiguity with a level of thought clarity.

  • Strong understanding of commercial banking practices, particularly related to lending and credit analysis.

  • Proven track record of success in business development, relationship management, and sales within the innovation economy.

  • Deep knowledge of the venture capital and private equity ecosystem, especially regarding funding rounds and company valuations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.

  • MBA or relevant professional certifications can be advantageous.

  • Backgrounds in leveraged finance, complex credit, private credit or equity, venture capital or investment banking

  • Intellectual curios and not a linear thinker

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree such as MS in Finance to MBA.

  • Strong familiarity with Venture Debt and Venture Capital ecosystem.

  • Advanced knowledge of portfolio management practices including expertise in evaluating risk and managing changing situations.

  • Strong structuring and negotiation skills, closing skills and ability to engage and build trust with clients independently.

  • Proven managerial skills able to recruit and develop a team of individuals at various levels from Associate to Associate Director level.
