Job SummaryNLHS is seeking full-time Clinical Biochemists to join the Division of Clinical Biochemistry within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Program. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team of over 30 laboratory professionals, including clinical biochemists, clinical and medical microbiologists, geneticists, hematopathologists, and anatomic pathologists.

Our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities support a broad spectrum of diagnostic services and are equipped with advanced analytical platforms and digital technologies. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in laboratory operations, quality assurance, interpretation of complex biochemical data, and clinical decision support. While based at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John?s, the role also supports ISO15189 accredited clinical laboratories and point-of-care testing sites across the province.

This position offers academic opportunities through our affiliation with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University. Candidates may be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment and are encouraged to participate in teaching and collaborative research

Job QualificationsEducationHold educational qualifications in chemistry or the biological sciences equivalent to the requirements for the PhD or DSc degree, or shall have earned a PhD, MD or equivalent degree from a university belonging to the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.

Experience-Have successfully completed a two (or more) year accredited Clinical Chemistry/Biochemistry training program and be a doctoral certified member or Fellow of an approved Foreign Academy of Clinical Chemistry/Biochemistry.
-Be a Fellow or eligible for Fellowship with the CACB

Competencies

Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationship and be a team player.

Demonstrated strong communication skills.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to function as a consultant to clinicians as well as non-clinical staff.

OtherA satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
