OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:

We are seeking experienced VM Migration Specialists to support a client project focused on migrating virtual machine workloads from VMware to OpenShift environments. The successful candidates will work closely with infrastructure and application teams to ensure smooth, secure, and low-downtime transitions.

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

• Migration Planning: Assess existing VMware workloads and dependencies to prepare for migration to OpenShift.
• Migration Execution: Execute and support the migration of virtual machine workloads from VMware to OpenShift, ensuring accuracy, security, and minimal downtime.
• Testing and Validation: Validate post-migration functionality, connectivity, and performance to ensure operational readiness.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve migration-related issues quickly to maintain service continuity.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work with platform and application teams to coordinate activities, track progress, and maintain detailed migration documentation.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

• Proven experience performing virtual machine migrations, particularly from VMware environments.
• Familiarity with OpenShift or other container-based platforms.
• Strong understanding of Docker/containerization best practices.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes resource definitions (Deployment, StatefulSet, Service, Ingress, ConfigMap, etc.).
• Strong understanding of system configuration, networking, and workload dependencies.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve migration and performance issues.
• Experience working within structured change and deployment processes in enterprise environments.
• Ability to work flexibly to support project delivery requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills, with a collaborative approach.
• Familiarity with common DevOps and CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or similar) is considered an asset.
