The Mactaquac Generating Station began generating electricity in 1968. Since the 1980s, concrete portions of the hydro station have been affected by a chemical reaction called alkali-aggregate reaction. The reaction causes the concrete to swell and crack and has required substantial annual maintenance and repairs. NB Power is proposing a project to ensure the station can operate to its intended 100-year lifespan with a modified approach to maintenance and adjusting and replacing equipment and concrete overtime.
As part of the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project, the Senior Project Scheduler (Senior Project Controls Analyst) is responsible for the development, maintenance, and ongoing updates of Level 3 and Level 4 resource-loaded P6 schedules. This role requires working independently while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate schedule performance. The Senior Scheduler will provide detailed schedule analysis, identify delays or risks, and highlight opportunities to optimize and expedite project timelines.
Key Functions include:
- Integrate external schedules, contract information, and related data into a master integrated schedule.
- Perform schedule analysis using techniques such as Earned Value Management (EVM), look-ahead planning.
- Prepare and deliver schedule-related reporting using various tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Develop KPIs, including leading indicators, to monitor project performance.
The ideal teammate will have:
- University degree in Engineering, or a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (those with a technical diploma will require an additional two years of experience)
- Over 7 years of experience as a scheduler, particularly on mega projects
- Experience in project planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management
- Experience with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and proficiency with Primavera Version 6
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Excel
- Knowledge of schedule principles and their application to projects
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong organizational skills
- PMP (Project Management Professional) designation or working towards designation will be considered as an asset
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
