One (1) Regular, position
Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
Competition # E22148-2025

Because we're New Brunswickers too, we care about our customers and future generations, and today we are actively looking for a new member to join us.
The Mactaquac Generating Station began generating electricity in 1968. Since the 1980s, concrete portions of the hydro station have been affected by a chemical reaction called alkali-aggregate reaction. The reaction causes the concrete to swell and crack and has required substantial annual maintenance and repairs. NB Power is proposing a project to ensure the station can operate to its intended 100-year lifespan with a modified approach to maintenance and adjusting and replacing equipment and concrete overtime.
As part of the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project, the Senior Cost Control Analyst (Senior Project Controls Analyst) is responsible for providing accurate and timely cost reporting to the project team. The incumbent will develop, monitor, and update cost performance indicators (KPIs) and detailed cost reports in collaboration with the Project Accountant, Project Scheduler, Contract Administrator, and other key members of the project management team. This role ensures effective cost control, forecasting accuracy, and financial transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Functions include:
- Integrate schedule, contract, accounting, and other relevant information into comprehensive cost analyses.

- Prepare and present reports using multiple tools and formats such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs), including leading indicators, to support proactive project monitoring and decision-making.
The ideal teammate will have:
- University degree in Engineering, or a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (those with a technical diploma will require an additional two years of experience)
- Over 7 years of experience in cost control, particularly within large scale or mega projects
- Expert-level understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost engineering principles.
- Strong knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls methodologies, including familiarity with PMBOK concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.
- A recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA), or a certification such as Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or working towards designation will be considered as an asset
