The new Ambulatory Health Hub (AHH) will be located on Stavanger Drive, St John?s East. The AHH is approximately 95,000 square feet and will house NLHS Clinic and Diagnostic Services including Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Audiology, TJAC, Bariatric, Preadmission, Pain, ECG, ECHO, Xray, Ultrasound, MRI and Blood Collection. This location will also house other NLHS Services (like the new Urgent Care Centre) as well as non- NLHS services (including a coffee shop, day care centre, community pharmacy etc.). NLHS staff will be given priority for available childcare spaces. There is free parking on site with designated area for staff parking. The AHH will be opening in Fall 2025. Job SummaryThe Clinical Physiotherapist II will work in the Pain clinic within Pain Management/Pain Services. Pain Management is a new provincial initiative and the Pain Clinic is being developed for NLHS Eastern Urban zone. The program receives province-wide referrals and provides same day multidimensional rehabilitation and follow-up for clients with long term pain and related health needs. It will work collaboratively with the Centre for Pain and Disability Management (CPDM) and work together underneath Pain Management.
This Clinical Physiotherapist II position is responsible for providing specialty physiotherapy assessment, interventions, consultation and education in Pain services, as well as interventions for those patients from pain services who require follow-up physiotherapy care. The patient population is mainly chronic in nature and will include care and education to (but not limited) patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), and intensive rehab following interventional treatment. The caseload will be high volume and turn over. Other musculoskeletal conditions may be included in caseload depending on operational needs. Work is performed independently in close association with the pain services team (anesthesiologists, medical students/residents, nurse practicer, occupational therapists, social worker nurses and team members from CPDM).
This Clinical Physiotherapist II position plays a key leadership role in Pain services. This Clinical PT II position may orient, evaluate and mentor staff as well as participate in program evaluation and quality initiative activities of the Program. This position will act as a provincial physiotherapy expert in pain services and as such provides advice/information to physiotherapists across the province on an as needed basis.
Supervision and delegation to Physiotherapy Support Workers may be an expectation. The PT will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NLHS Eastern Urban Zone. This position reports to the Manager of Pain Management and maintains accountability to the Physiotherapy Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and professional practice issues.

Graduation from an approved/recognized school of Physiotherapy is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years' experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with an adult orthopedic outpatient population. Successful completion of a post entry education course in Orthopedic Level II - Upper Quadrant AND Lower Quadrant (or equivalent as determined by NLHS) is required. Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Possessed proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required. *The successful applicant must be willing to complete approved courses in Pain science through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association at the first available opportunity. The course must be completed within two years of commencing the position. Financial support may be provided by the employer.
