In the fast-paced, high volume environment, reporting to the Manager, Accounts Payable, Supervisor Accounts Payable will be responsible for assisting with the workflow of the Accounts Payable department by providing day-to-day leadership to the Accounts Payable Team. You will work with Senior Management, Procurement, Treasury Department, Internal Audit, Human Resources, as well as foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

As Supervisor Accounts Payable you will:
- Participate in weekly team meetings, providing regular feedback to direct reports, conducting performance evaluations, and responsible for recruitment process for any vacancies that occur.
- Be responsible for assisting with the Full Accounts Payable cycle for the Emera Group of Companies (currently 12 companies in total, both Canadian and US Companies), assisting with month-end close for all companies, to ensure process and procedures are followed, and reconciliation of monthly credit card transactions.
- Act as back up for the Manager, Accounts Payable when they are not in office.
- Maintain customer relationships with suppliers and employees by providing requested A/P information to a variety of internal and external resources.
- Enter and upload payments to banking platforms as required, and review the weekly cheque run.
- Be responsible to meet monthly closing and reporting deadlines on a regular basis, and will also be responsible for annual issuing/submission of T4A (Canadian) and 1099 (United States) government forms.

You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
These skills will make you successful:
- A recognized Business Administration or Accounting certificate with experience in Accounts Payable and preferably 3 years supervisory experience (preferably of a small to medium sized team).
- Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve desired results, while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Performance management skills - providing feedback, setting goals, performance reviews.
- Act as a supportive team player and possess strong interpersonal skills with a high level of confidentiality.
- Experience in full AP Cycle - from invoice entry (understanding of HST/GST, holdbacks (including lien search requirements), and with-holding tax) to initiating & processing payments.
- Experience in both Canadian and US Payables.
- Experience in full Procure to Pay Process - understanding of Purchase Orders and Receiving process.
- Experience in Electronic payments (Wires, EFT, ACH) and working with banking platforms.
- Demonstrated process improvement mindset which relates to increasing efficiencies.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite of software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint in particular).
- Previous Oracle Financial experience would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with procurement policies and procedures.
- Ability to foster working relationships with internal and external customers, and anticipate the needs of your customers and initiate accordingly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented, with ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while delivering high-quality results.
- You are energetic, enthusiastic, a problem-solver and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
