Senior Research and Evaluation Specialist
As WorkplaceNL's Senior Research and Evaluation Specialist, you will design and deliver WorkplaceNL's Research Initiatives Program that funds occupational health and safety research. You will also work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the organization's research and evaluation priorities are defined and delivered in a manner that enhances evidence-based decision making across the organization.
Role Responsibilities
- Develops, implements and maintains a framework and corresponding materials for the Research Initiatives Program, including overseeing periodic calls for research proposals and conducting periodic reviews to recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Monitors research project progress and expenditures; works with researchers and management to troubleshoot issues that may arise.
- Collaborates with departments to develop program accountability frameworks, including providing support and expertise in program evaluation planning and activities.
- Works cross-departmentally to assess internal research needs, providing expert advise and support to meet those needs.
- Employs and provides guidance on qualitative and quantitative tools and analysis, including data visualization, literature reviews, surveys, focus groups and key informant interviews.
- Liases with internal and external stakeholders to conduct program evaluations, policy reviews and other related research.
- Researches industry-leading practices on matters related to workers' compensation through the design and execution of jurisdictional scans and participation in cross-jurisdictional forums.
- Provides expertise to support performance measurement and continuous improvement across the organization through the development and application of structured frameworks and tools.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Master of Psychological Sciences degree or equivalent training or experience in the application of qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methodologies.
- Three years of experience applying a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies with an ability to analyze and communicate results.
- Knowledge of and experience with implementing quantifiable performance measures and continuous improvement initiatives, including key performance indicators, service standards and the Lean framework for process improvements.
- Experience working collaboratively and coordinating cross-departmental teams or projects.
- Knowledge of the workers' compensation system, Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act, 2022, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Transparency and Accountability Act, and other relevant provincial legislation.
