­Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will perform the duties of an Electrical Engineer specializing in AC Terminal Engineering and Operational Support. You will provide electrical and occasional P&C support for CF, with opportunities to contribute to other assets in Labrador such as Muskrat Falls.

Your work will involve all aspects of design and technical support, including:

  • Evaluating abnormal system behavior and performing root cause analysis of faults and anomalies.
  • Providing support in developing and refining maintenance tactics for electrical equipment.
  • Developing, maintaining, and applying technical standards and engineering documentation.
  • Preparing technical specifications, schematics, wiring lists, equipment lists, and work packages.
  • Supporting capital, operating, and maintenance projects through all phases - design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting operational issues in terminal stations, including on-site support to NL Hydro and contractor personnel.
  • Participating in predictive maintenance program development and asset management initiatives.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing "as-built" drawings, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Providing technical input to contract documentation and participating in factory acceptance testing.
  • Staying current with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices relevant to electrical systems and equipment.
  • Participating in training and development and supporting NL Hydro's Corporate Safety & Health Program.

­What We're Looking For:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and project teams.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach with demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making ability.
  • A strong commitment to NL Hydro's vision, core values, and guiding principles.

You may also provide technical direction to junior engineers, technologists, or drafters on specific projects, and occasionally supervise temporary staff or contractors on-site.

­What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible and relevant experience related to the type of work.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
  • Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, ANSI, and IEEE Standards.
  • Specific experience in the electric utility or power generation industry is considered an asset.
  • Strong computer literacy, including engineering and analytical software applications relevant to the discipline.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Work is normally assigned to an office environment but will frequently require inspection of equipment during manufacture and on-site visits to operational facilities

Relocation to Churchill Falls will be required.
