The NOC Tier 2 / Data Service Support admin position is an advanced support role reporting to the Network Access Support manager within the Core Operations organization.
Key responsibilities:
- All aspects of network support as it pertains to Eastlink’s MPLS Data, High Speed Internet and Video distribution networks.
- Demonstrates exceptional troubleshooting skills. Possesses the technical knowledge to assess network incidents, apply fault finding methodologies and when required, pull in available resources to coordinate the restoral efforts.
- Provisioning of data services as required. Typically, non-standard or enterprise level services requiring proficient Cisco configuration knowledge.
- Working in conjunction with the data engineering group, the role is prime with respect to the implementation of approved software release upgrades. Under the direction of engineering’s network compliance report, you will apply the recommended IOS software version, schedule and execute IOS upgrades.
- As a Tier 2 resource, provide senior support for the suite of Eastlink data service products.
- Develop support processes and documentation to aid in the development of the NOC data support group.
Qualifications:
- 5 years carrier date networking experience on recognized platforms (Cisco / Juniper/ Ciena)
- Cisco CCNA /CCNP routing and switching certification preferred. (or equivalent experience).
- Practiced knowledge of MPLS data, IP subnetting, Routing protocols, traffic shaping and quality of service provisioning.
- Experience with point-to-point layer 2 (VLAN) and point to multipoint layer 3 vrf provisioning models.
- Accomplished troubleshooter at a command line level in network level switches and routers.
- Functional of OSPF, BGP, eBGP
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with service provider ticket systems.
- Technical writing skills linked to both incident and root cause analysis reports.
- Self-motivated to stay current in technologies.
- Ability to adapt to changes within an evolving network and service offering environment.
- Execute a team lead role in the concept of improving the collective group performance.
