The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Organizational Development Branch as an Internal Communications Specialist in its Central Office in Fredericton.
The successful candidate will be responsible to lead the development and implementation of internal communications strategies and activities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing internal communications involving the Minister and Senior Leadership. Other duties involve development and editing of communication materials such as memos, brochures, videos, newsletters, surveys, and other formats. The position also requires routine updating of Web content. This position requires a motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and communications mediums, and who can work with a high level of independence. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize deliverables. The successful candidate will also be responsible to liaise, build, and foster internal relationships with Zone and Central Office staff, as well as with other partners. The successful candidate will participate in departmental and interdepartmental working groups and committees and may be assigned other tasks as required. Travel may be required; a valid driver's licence is required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A University bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Languages, or a related discipline, with a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; or a two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a related field, with a minimum of six (6) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may also be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in the following asset qualification:
- The principles and practices of communications within Government;
- Public relations and promotions within Government;
- Knowledge and experience using relevant desktop and Web publishing software and hardware, and knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, as well as Adobe inDesign, PremierPro, and Illustrator.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $58,474 - 81,770 per annum
