We are seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to join our team. The BI Analyst will transform data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making across the organization.
This role focuses on gathering business requirements, defining meaningful metrics, preparing and modeling data, and developing dashboards and reports that drive business performance. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with stakeholders to clarify needs, skilled in SQL and data modeling, and experienced in building effective Power BI reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and define KPIs, metrics, and reporting requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that support operational and financial decision-making.
- Collect, clean, transform, and analyze data from multiple systems to identify trends, anomalies, and performance insights.
- Translate complex data into clear, compelling visuals and narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to support data preparation and reporting needs.
- Monitor data quality and integrity and contribute to ongoing data governance and documentation.
- Support ad hoc data analysis and reporting requests.
- Work cross-functionally with Project Management, Operations, Finance, and IT to ensure data flows, definitions, and reporting are aligned and consistent.
- Continuously evaluate and improve reporting standards, data models, and BI development practices.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field - or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related role.
- Proficiency with Power BI for data modeling, report development, and visualization.
- Strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.
- Familiarity with data modeling, ETL/ELT concepts, and data warehousing principles.
- Ability to communicate data insights clearly and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking ability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be eligible to work with Protected B data and Controlled Goods.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Nice to have:
- Experience with project management, financial, or operational data.
- Experience building standardized KPI frameworks or semantic data models.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Snowflake) is an asset but not required.
