The Configuration & Data Management (CDM) Lead is responsible for managing the integrity, versioning, and traceability of data and documentation used in the development and delivery of training products. This role ensures that courseware, supporting documentation, and customer deliverables are controlled, accurate, and compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements.

The CDM Lead provides discipline leadership, drives process standardization, ensures cross-team adoption, and serves as the expert for configuration and data control decisions across the organization.

Responsibilities

Configuration Management

  • Develop, maintain, and improve configuration management plans, standards, and workflows for production outputs.
  • Control and track baselines for source reference documents, technical content, multimedia assets, and final deliverables.
  • Manage change control workflows, ensuring updates are reviewed, approved, documented, and traceable.
  • Conduct configuration audits and maintain accurate configuration status records.

Data Management

  • Maintain centralized repositories of production data, ensuring version control, integrity, and accessibility across project teams.
  • Oversee the storage, classification, and retrieval of technical and training documents, ensuring consistency with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the secure release and distribution of deliverables to customers, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Oversee secure release, packaging, and distribution of deliverables, including preparation of CDRLs, file manifests, and delivery records.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, contractual, and regulatory data control requirements (e.g., DND, ITAR, Controlled Goods, ISO/AS9100 environments)

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with instructional designers, technical writers, multimedia developers, project managers, and quality teams to ensure controlled and consistent use of source materials.Coordinate with program teams to track document delivery milestones.
  • Train team members on configuration/data management practices, tools, and expectations.
  • Support internal and external reviews, audits, and inspections.
  • Identify process gaps and lead improvements to strengthen discipline and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant technical field and/or 5+ years of experience in configuration management, data management, or document control (preferably in training, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries).
  • Strong knowledge of configuration/data management principles, version control, and document lifecycle management.
  • Experience with document and data management tools (e.g., SharePoint, LCMS/LMS platforms, Jira, or equivalent).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with technical teams and customers.
  • Certification in configuration or data management (e.g., CMII, CMPIC, DAMA) is an asset.
  • Be able to hold a Government of Canada Security Clearance (Secret level).
  • Be able to hold Government of Canada site/information access certifications, including accessing Protected "B" information, Controlled Goods Clearance, and ITAR Clearance.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
