About Us
The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC) is the hub for recreation and community on the South Shore. Located in Bridgewater Nova Scotia, the LCLC is a leader in the health and economic success of our region. The sport, recreation and community facility houses an NHL-size arena, an aquatic centre which is suited to both leisure and competitive users, a therapeutic pool, a public library and other multi-purpose spaces.
About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a leader with a passion for community, sports, recreation, and entertainment. As our next General Manager you are accountable for carrying out the policies and strategic direction as set out by the Board for the LCLC. The GM will have a strategic focus with the ability to market the facility and deliver superior customer service. Through collaboration and leadership, the GM fosters a sense of community, and ensures the facility and its staff are welcoming for all individuals.
With a staff of approximately forty (40) personnel, the GM is accountable to lead, develop, and implement all aspects of operating the facility. Providing strategic direction and leadership for all aspects of the LCLC, the GM oversees the operation of the facility, services, scheduling, program development and evaluation, marketing, communications, and public relations. Through key initiatives and regional partnerships, the GM plays a critical role in maintaining this important regional resource in an economically sound manner.
The GM is a change agent who provides advice and is responsive to the Lunenburg County Multi-Purpose Centre Corporation (LCMPCC) Board and partner Councils, staff and community leaders regarding the LCLC, including services, programming, marketing and communications. A champion for the LCLC, the GM is relied upon as a key expert and member of the partner organizations' recreation teams, helping to ensure these premier recreation facilities are available for use by partner municipalities' residents and organizations. You will be supported by the Municipal Joint Services Board Chief Operating Officer.
Experience
- Minimum of five years' related leadership work experience.
- Substantial management experience in membership operations, event marketing and management, or a relevant combination of education and work experience demonstrating progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability in community-oriented program delivery through establishing collaborative internal and external working relationships/project teams.
- Proven track record in managing in a member-dependent service industry.
- Demonstrated experience in media relations, advertising, promotions and communication, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for engaging effectively with government officials and key community stakeholders.
- Previous public sector experience is an asset, specifically municipal government experience is preferred.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the local Lunenburg County environment is an asset.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in business, operations, sport and recreation, project management and/or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
- Non-union, permanent full time (35 hours per week).
- Hours of Work: Typically Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with work outside regular hours as required.
- Primarily in person at 135 North Park Street, Bridgewater NS.
- Flexible work arrangements may be possible as per policy, depending upon work requirements.
- The incumbent should expect to travel within Lunenburg County as required to meet with staff throughout partner municipalities. Travel costs are reimbursed as per policy.
- Compensation reflects the level of responsibility of the role, including a requirement to periodically work outside of regular hours to meet operational demands.
- Will need to periodically attend meetings outside of regular work hours, for example Board and Council meetings.
Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver's license.
