Power Engineer 4th Class

Location: St. John's, NL
Schedule: Rotational 12-hour shifts (average 40 hrs/week)
Rate of Pay: $35 hourly

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Operator/Mechanic to support operations at a world-class research and testing facility. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of a computerized ammonia vapor compression system, as well as a range of HVAC and building systems critical to research and facility performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain a large-scale ammonia refrigeration plant and associated Freon systems.
• Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC, water filtration, pumps, compressors, and control systems.
• Support facility operations by monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance.
• Assist in installation, calibration, and commissioning of new and existing mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate logs, comply with safety and environmental regulations, and participate in emergency response protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Refrigeration "B" Class or 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate (minimum).
• Valid Certificate of Competency to act as Shift Operator in a refrigeration plant of unlimited capacity (NL).
• Proven experience with industrial refrigeration, HVAC systems, and computerized control systems.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations (Boiler/Pressure Vessel, B-52, WHMIS, OH&S).
• Training in SCBA, confined space, fall protection, and first aid considered an asset.
