Human Resources Assistant
St. John's Sports & Entertainment Ltd. (SJSEL) is currently seeking an individual who is energetic, dependable and would enjoy working in a fast paced and exciting environment while being able to handle sensitive and confidential information. Reporting directly to the Manager - Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant will work closely with all departments being an integral part of the organization. We're looking for a candidate who is detail oriented and has exceptional interpersonal skills to play a key role in the daily operation of the office.

We're looking for our HR MVP, who will play a critical role in the recruiting and onboarding of new team members while addressing variety items for a diverse team of individuals which contributes to the organization's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, monitor, enter and validate information into the HRIS system, including but not limited to new hires, staff absenteeism, leave, medical benefits, transfers, promotions, maintenance of personnel records, etc.
- Assist with recruiting and the onboarding process from reviewing candidate resumes, scheduling & conducting interviews and reference checks.
- Maintain the master files related to the scheduling software, ADP position/event master files and security options in ADP
- Work in partnership with the Manager - Human Resources to ensure the integrity of HR data including data related to new hires, terminations, disciplines, grievances, transfers and pay changes.
- Maintain employee records and documentation, including personnel files, employee records, and employment policies and procedures.
- Respond to inquiries from internal departments, external agencies, and employees on HRIS related matters, ensuring appropriate processes and documentation methods are used.
- Conduct audits of human resources data to preserve its integrity and accuracy.
- Provide data to support HR Project work and quality improvement initiatives. Review internal HRIS processes for process improvements.
- Participate in the testing of upgrades, patches/fixes, new applications or modules and program/interface changes that affect SJSEL's HRIS system.
- Oversee uniform issue and inventory including determining requirements and ordering
- Oversees General Office requirements including but not limited to office supplies, printing, etc for all departments within Mary Brown's Centre and the St. John's Convention Centre.
- Other duties as periodically assigned.
Qualifications:
To be our MVP in this role, you'll need the following:
- Diploma in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.
- Certified or eligible for certification with International Association for Human Resource Information Management (HRIM) is considered an asset.
- Organized and process driven.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Effective analytical, and computer skills with a strong working knowledge of Excel and HRIS is required.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a self-starter and creative thinker to solve problems and develop innovative ideas.
Relevant Experience
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now would be an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with HRIS/Payroll systems and work of similar complexity.
- Experience developing and implementing HRIS policies and procedures would be an asset.

- Candidates possessing an equivalent combination of education and experience that is deemed acceptable by St. John's Sports & Entertainment Ltd. may be considered.
