Job Title: Bookkeeper/Records Management Clerk
Location: St. John's, NL
Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours: 40 hours/week
Our accounting firm serves a wide range of clients, public and private, in many industries ranging from government, retail operations, regulatory bodies, owner-managed enterprises and not-for-profit organizations. We require a qualified Bookkeeper to join our bookkeeping practice. At least two years of experience working as a Bookkeeper in Canada are required with strong working experience in Sage 50. The position will also include reception and records management tasks as listed below. Ours is a team environment so we require a person with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal and communication skills who can work independently.
Key Responsibilities (bookkeeping):
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of transactions
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and process payroll for client employees
- Generate financial reports and statements as needed
- Utilize accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks
- Support the preparation of information slips such as T4's, T4A's
Key Responsibilities (records management):
- Answer and redirect incoming calls
- Greet and welcome visitors to our office
- Help maintain control of client documents
- Compile working paper files and maintain 3 years of paper files.
- Electronically archive paper files and maintain electronic document system.
- Return original client documents to clients.
- Prepare client year-end packages.
- Send encrypted documents to clients for signatures as required.
Qualifications/Requirements (bookkeeping):
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably with an accounting firm (2 years experience required)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage 50 and QuickBooks
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of payroll processing and basic understanding of employment laws
Qualifications/Requirements (records management):
- No experience necessary. Training will be provided.
