Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
The Radio Communications Branch is responsible for the provision of Radio Communications and other advanced technological services for all government departments and agencies. The Branch provides contract management of the New Brunswick Trunked Mobile Radio (NBTMR) system, the province's P25 Digital Public Safety Grade Radio System. The NBTMR provides mission critical services to various Provincial, Federal, and Municipal stakeholders.
What you will do
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- managing and maintaining the NBTMR and P25 public safety radio systems;
- serving as first contact for clients and coordinating service/product requests;
- creating, analyzing, and tracking work orders; coordinating required resources;
- scheduling and dispatching radio technicians for support, outages, and maintenance;
- assisting technicians with on-the-job issues and questions;
- coordinating site inspections and preventive maintenance;
- liaising with clients, vendors, and other departments;
- attending meetings and providing service analysis and recommendations; and
- supporting daily operations of the Radio Communications Branch.
Work environment:
- Office location: Fredericton Area
- Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday

- Frequent travel in the region is required along with periodic travel throughout the province.
- Operational requirements may also require working on weekends, and/or variable hours.
- The successful candidate will lead and also be part of the Branch's emergency response team which is mobilized during times of emergencies and extreme weather events.

Essential Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED, and the successful completion of an approved course in electronics technology with a minimum of two (2) years of experience related to testing, maintenance and repair of radio receivers, transmitters and a minimum of two (2) years in a formal Change Management process in a Trunked Mobile Radio environment, and experience with coordination, scheduling and tracking of resources in a highly complex regulated environment.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check at their own expense if they have not already undergone one in the course of their employment with the branch.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:
- experience preparing reports, performance metrics, or technical documentation;
- experience leading or mentoring technical staff in field operations;
- ability to communicate findings and recommendations to management and non-technical audiences;
- knowledge of contract management and vendor relations in technical services.

SALARY:
Radio Technician Coordinator: $31.43 per hour, based on a 40- hour week
