The Opportunity
The Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) is a member of the Cardiac Catheterization Team. The CVT performs a multi-faceted role that involves patient care and education, and performing highly specialized monitoring, analysis and interpretation of patient hemodynamic data, during electrophysiology studies, cardiac catheterizations, and angioplasties.

Education for the Cardiovascular Technologist is currently offered in-person through Mohawk College in Toronto, Ontario, or online through British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Prerequisite Requirements
Applicants must apply and meet the school admission requirements for the Cardiovascular Technology program on their own merit. Education options, entrance requirements and fees are outlined on the Mohawk and BCIT websites.

Financial Assistance
Financial assistance may be available to help offset costs associated with the Cardiovascular Technology program. Funding may be provided for tuition and books. A return-in-service agreement with NL Health Services will be required, and the length of the return-in-service will depend on the total amount of funding provided. The service obligation will begin once the applicant has successfully completed the certification exam and started working in the role.
If the prerequisite requirements are met, applicants will be assessed for financial support based on a combination of screening criteria such as academic grades and interview(s).
