Position Summary:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics, shipping, receiving, inventory management, and production planning for the wood panel wall manufacturing facility. This role ensures that materials, components, and finished goods are efficiently handled, stored, and distributed to meet production schedules and customer delivery deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee daily inventory control of raw materials, prefabricated components, and finished panels.
- Implement and maintain efficient inventory systems to ensure accuracy and minimize waste.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Shipping & Receiving
- Manage all inbound and outbound shipments, including scheduling, documentation, and coordination with carriers.
- Ensure finished products are packaged, labeled, and loaded according to customer and safety specifications.
- Optimize transportation routes and costs while maintaining on-time delivery performance.
- Production Planning & Scheduling
- Collaborate with the production team to develop weekly and daily production plans based on customer orders and priorities.
- Monitor workflow to ensure production targets are met while maintaining flexibility for urgent orders or changes.
- Coordinate with engineering and sales to align logistics with new project requirements.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise logistics staff and including forklift operators.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure team efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Process Improvement & Compliance
- Develop and implement procedures to improve logistics efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize storage space.
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze key metrics (inventory turns, shipping accuracy, cost per shipment) and prepare regular reports for management.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics or production planning, preferably in a manufacturing or construction-related environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory systems (ERP/MRP), shipping documentation, and warehouse management.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and logistics software.
- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols (an asset).
