Events East Group (EEG) is a world-class, special purpose government organization jointly owned by the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality. A purpose driven organization, EEG has been recognized globally with awards for hosting marque national and international events, delivering Maritime hospitality and supporting local economic and cultural impact. EEG is responsible for the Halifax Convention Centre with over 120,000 sq ft of flexible event space and the Scotiabank Centre, Atlantic Canada's largest multipurpose events venue, which accommodates 10,000 spectators. These facilities are central to the region's event and entertainment landscape, hosting conventions, concerts, sports, and cultural gatherings. After over a decade of exceptional leadership by the current President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the EEG Board of Directors is recruiting its next leader to shape the region's event and entertainment landscape, hosting conventions, concerts, sports, and cultural gatherings.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO leads the organization to achieve strategic growth and impact, building upon a strong reputation, operational excellence, and robust local and international partnerships. The CEO is responsible for setting the strategic direction, ensuring operational excellence, and driving overall organizational success. As the public face of the organization, the CEO works closely with the Board, shareholders, stakeholders, and senior leadership to fulfill the organization's mission and long-term goals. They demonstrate financial acumen and operational expertise and possess effective communication and people skills. They are a natural leader and champion for the city, province, and country. This is a unique opportunity to do truly meaningful work in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree and/or professional designation, with a minimum of seven years' executive experience at the VP/c-suite level of a mid-to-large complex organization. Knowledge of event, convention, tourism, and/or hospitality sectors is a definite asset as is understanding of public sector governance and a history of leading with strategic intent and the ability to navigate complexity. The CEO has demonstrated experience in stakeholder and key partner relationship management. They are a strong communicator who is comfortable representing the organization to external audiences.
