Position: Full Time Patrol Guard

Site: Scarborough Birchmount Hospital |3030 Birchmount Road, Scarborough

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights (1900 - 0700)

Payrate: $18.73/hour

Key responsibilities:

·Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.

·Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

·Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

·Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations

·Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

·De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

·Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

·Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

·Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.

·Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

·Valid Security License for the province of Ontario

·Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider

·Covid Vaccine two doses

·Proof of up to date immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step Tuberculosis skin test

·Valid G class Driver's License

·Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training

·Vulnerable Sector Check

·English (oral and written) fluency is a must

·Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

·Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

·Legally authorized to work in Canada

Qualifications
Post secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience, Education in Law Enforcement or equivalent, Minimum of a Police Foundations Diploma
