Engineer, Electrical

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Electrical Engineering Services to Thermal Generation by ensuring that equipment and facilities are properly installed, operated and maintained, and that Safety and Environmental Guidelines are followed.
 - Ensure that maintenance standards and practices follow approved Engineering Directives and monitor the effectiveness of the Maintenance Program for electrical assets.
 - Identify maintenance tactics for electrical and instrumentation equipment and ensure implementation of these tactics.
 - Investigate recurring maintenance and operational problems and other incidents, and recommend modifications or upgrades.
 - Complete engineering design reviews of proposed changes or additions.
 - Provide maintenance audits and unbiased evaluations of the Health and Safety program.
 
What We're Looking For:

 - Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.
 
What You'll Need:
- Be a safety leader and promote safety culture within Hydro.
 - Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
 - Minimum of five (5) years' experience from graduation, with experience related to the type of work.
 - Shall be registered with, or eligible to be registered with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientist (PEGNL).
 - Provide Electrical Engineering services to Holyrood Thermal Generating Station to support operations and ongoing maintenance issues.
 - Investigate failures and trips and prepare trip reports with recommendations as required.
 - Manage the electrical assets in the plant including: identify the need for new assets and prepare specifications as required, commission new equipment, manage the Preventative Maintenance Program for electrical assets, manage critical spares.
 - Ensure reliability of electrical assets through review of the PM program effectiveness, implementation of predictive maintenance where applicable, performance monitoring, specialized testing and analysis.
 - Manage any changes through formal documented process.
 - Provide technical support to plant Electricians and Instrumentation Technicians.
 - Act as the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station representative for all on-going and planned electrical capital work.
 - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable Engineering codes and standards.
 - Mentor Engineers in Training and engineering work term students, as required.
 - Must possess an appropriate valid driver license's.
