The Office of Government Members (GMO) is seeking a fluently bilingual Communications & Media Relations Officer to support Government Members of the Legislature in effectively communicating priorities, engaging the public, and strengthening their presence in the Legislature, in Legislative Committees, and in their communities. 
 The successful candidate will work closely with the Legislative Assistants and the Chief of Staff to ensure communications are well-coordinated, strategic, and responsive to emerging needs. This role requires sound communications judgement, strong collaboration, and the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and high-paced environment. 
 Full professional fluency in English and French is required.  
 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
 Communications Development 
- Support the planning and delivery of communications initiatives aligned with caucus priorities
 - Draft speeches, key messages, newsletters, social content, and public communications
 - Assist with digital content management and community engagement across platforms
 - Provide timely communications support during legislative activity and rapid-response situations
 
Caucus and Stakeholder Coordination
- Share communications direction and branded guidance with MLAs and constituency offices
 - Provide templates and basic design support for community outreach
 
Media Relations
- Coordinate responses to media inquiries and act as an initial point of contact
 - Draft media advisories, press releases, and related materials
 - Monitor media coverage and trends to inform communications strategies
 - Support Members in preparing for interviews and public announcements
 
Monitoring and Reporting
- Track media coverage, social engagement, and public response
 - Provide insights that support continuous improvement and message effectiveness
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 
 Education & Experience 
- Degree or diploma in communications, journalism, public relations, political science, or related field
 - 3-5 years of experience in communications or media relations (legislative or government experience an asset)

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French
 - Strong attention to detail, with ability to simplify complex issues clearly
 - Skilled with digital tools including social media scheduling and analytics
 - Calm under pressure and adaptable when priorities shift quickly
 - Effective collaborator who builds positive working relationships
 - Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a natural ability to build trust, collaborate effectively, and connect with diverse audiences
 
Working Conditions
- Full-time, Fredericton-based position
 - Evening work required, with occasional weekend support during Legislative period
 - Fast-paced environment where priorities evolve based on political context
