The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the department as an Administrative Assistant supporting the Assistant Deputy Ministers in its Central Office in Fredericton.

Reporting to both the Assistant Deputy Minister of Corporate Services and the Assistant Deputy Minister of Long-Term Care and Disability Support Program, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely and accurate administrative and secretarial support to the Assistant Deputy Ministers. Responsibilities include performing a wide variety of confidential and delegated duties using considerable independent judgment, initiative and discretion. Additional responsibilities include creating, revising, manipulating, proofreading and maintaining documents, preparing PowerPoint presentations, databases and spreadsheets; maintaining and creating an efficient filing system and a SharePoint site; providing general administrative support such as organizing and coordinating meetings, including taking notes and transcribing minutes; answering incoming telephone calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate areas; making travel arrangements, photocopying, filing and coordinating translation requests.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED and a one (1) year post-secondary diploma in administration, business administration, or office management and at least five (5) years directly related experience OR High school diploma or GED supplemented by completion of a two-year post-secondary program in administrative support, business administration, or office administration and a minimum of four (4) years directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in the following asset qualification:
