The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Superintendent, Business Support to join the Smelter Complex Team based in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a permanent on-site position, working Monday to Friday - dayshifts.
Reporting to the General Manager of the Copper Cliff Smelter Complex, this role leads the Business Support team, including Learning & Development and Plant Administration. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive safety, production, cost, and quality performance, while supporting strategic and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Learning & Development and Plant Administration teams.
- Support plant management by implementing and optimizing business processes and divisional initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement through plant-wide initiatives and project execution.
- Coordinate and facilitate management meetings, including detailed analysis of performance metrics.
- Serve as the plant focal point for ISO standards and metric coordination.
- Identify and resolve process issues and inefficiencies in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Support strategic planning, including capital planning and execution.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Mentor team members in alignment with Vale's Key Behaviours.
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate or a College Diploma required in Engineering, Finance or Business or a related area.
Experience:
- 8 years of dynamic proven experience in a supervisory or technical support role.
- Preferred business and process knowledge of metallurgical processing.
Skills:
- Strong background in maintenance, operations, and technical functions.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to manage priorities and deliver results.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Vale systems.
