Definition of Work:
The Food Service Worker I performs standardized work preparing, assembling and serving food to residents and staff. The successful applicant performs related tasks in kitchens, dining rooms and cafeterias and is responsible for ensuring residents and staff receive meals, food trays are distributed and collected, kitchenettes and food stations are clean, sanitized, stocked, and cashier duties are carried out. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

? Constantly moves/lifts up to 10lbs.Occasionally required to move/lift up to 50+lbs with co-worker assistance. Pushing/Pulling with Light to Medium forces (11-44lbsF) is regularly required.
? Constantly stands/walks. Walking up to 500m may be required to deliver meals; multiple times daily.
? Work regularly involves reaching/stretching, bending/twisting and bouts of low level postures (kneeling/crouching/stooping).
? Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas.
? Certain work environments present exposure to loud noises; personal protective equipment is required for specific areas.
Required Qualifications:
? Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
? Demonstrated experience in preparing or serving food.
? Demonstrated ability to use a cash register where applicable.
? Consistent demonstration of NL Health Service's core values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence (ICARE)
? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
? A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
? Demonstrated knowledge of institutional food handling.
