What you will do:
We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Policy and Program Advisor – GBA+ to join our team. This position plays a key role in embedding Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) across the Government of New Brunswick by supporting departments in applying intersectional and inclusive approaches to their work.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives, you will:
- Develop and deliver GBA+ training sessions and learning materials for government departments and agencies.
- Lead the Government of New Brunswick's GBA+ Community of Practice and departmental GBA+ Champion network.
- Provide policy and program advice to departments on incorporating GBA+ into policies, programs, initiatives, and events.
- Support GNB in its integration of GBA+ in budgeting and financial decision-making (gender budgeting).
- Represent Women's Equality on federal-provincial-territorial working groups and committees related to gender equality and GBA+.
- Conduct strategic analysis and "big picture" thinking on how to strengthen the use and impact of GBA+ across government.
- Engage meaningfully with community stakeholders and equity-deserving groups to ensure policies and programs reflect diverse lived experiences.
- Contribute to event planning and coordination related to gender equality and inclusion initiatives
This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of equity frameworks, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and sectors.
You are someone who:
- Believes that inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and reconciliation are essential to good governance and public policy.
- Enjoys connecting with others and supporting capacity-building through collaboration and mentorship.
- Can translate complex ideas about equity and intersectionality into clear and practical advice.
- Has strong critical thinking, writing, and communication skills.
Essential qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, public administration, law, gender studies, or a related discipline).
- Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: policy development, program design, community engagement, or training and facilitation.
- Knowledge of Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) and its application in public policy or program settings.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Asset qualifications:
- Experience developing and delivering training or learning materials on inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, reconciliation, or GBA+.
- Experience leading interdepartmental or intersectoral committees or networks.
- Knowledge of gender-responsive budgeting or impact assessment.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset.
- Lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving group (such as 2SLGBTQIA+ people, women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized people, or newcomers) is considered an asset, as it can enhance understanding of the work we do. Work location and flexibility:
This position is based in Fredericton, with the option to work remotely, or a hybrid arrangement, from anywhere in New Brunswick. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary:
Pay Band 4 - $58,474.00 to $81,770.00 per annum
