Halifax Water is hiring an Electrical Safety Program Manager as we continue to expand and advance our Environment, Health & Safety Team.
What the Environment, Health & Safety Team does:
- Supports the Corporation, ensuring Halifax water complies with regulations set forth by Nova Scotia Environment, Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour.
- Ensures our customers comply with our Rules & Regulations.
- Protects the health and well-being of employees, contractors, and the public by ensuring safe working conditions and practices.
As an Electrical Safety Program Manager, you will:
- Collaborate with Halifax Water senior management, the Technical Services Department, and the Electrical Safety Steering Committee (ESSC) staff across the organization.
- Develop, coordinate, implement, monitor and continuously improve the HW Electrical Safety Program, including electrical and mechanical Lockout/Tagout and low and high voltage equipment.
- Provide training, advice and guidance to all staff on electrical safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Conduct facility and worksite audits, inspections and surveys to verify compliance with electrical safety standards, procedures and arrangements.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, employees and contractors related to electrical safety at Halifax Water.
To do this job, you need to have:
- A diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Electrician (a combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Five to seven years of experience in electrical safety, electrical engineering, or industrial safety roles including developing, implementing, auditing and improving electrical safety programs in compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA and Provincial Electrical Safety Standards.
- Certification related to one's program of study: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP); Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), or Industrial Electrician under Nova Scotia Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act.
- A valid NS driver's license.
