What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Supervisor of the Work Intake Solutions Delivery unit within Business Application Services (JPS), the Senior Business Systems Analyst will be part of a team that will deliver application services for a suite of business applications used by staff across the province.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Elicit business and system requirements from Product Owner, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders into documents such as business requirement documents, gap analysis, application process flows, technical specifications, MoSCoW, user stories, etc.
  • Provide advice/direction to clients on business solution options that will meet their needs, goals, and objectives.
  • Exceptional writing skills with emphasis on producing professional quality deliverables.
  • Assist in evaluating and planning software implementation and integration with other systems.
  • Lead teams and provide direction to solutions specialists, developers, and business stakeholders in application development, solution design, coding, testing and implementing functionality.
  • Provide recommendations for solutions and participate in solution development activities including planning, design, procurement/development, testing and implementation.
  • Assist in the design of new business applications. (Screen layouts, user flows, tool tips, error messages, etc.).
  • Engage and maintain communications with all stakeholders (business team, application support team, DBAs, software vendors, other GNB business/IT areas, other jurisdictions, etc.) to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Maintain strong and collaborative relationships with Business Application Services Team Members, Project Managers, Enterprise Architecture and other SNB teams.
  • Assist in development and scoring of project related request for proposals (RFP's) issued by Procurement.

What do you need to be successful?

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A university degree of four (4) years in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business or related discipline and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
  • Experience developing and documenting business requirements, system design, and system specifications.
  • Experience providing direction and leading solution delivery for small to medium sized projects.
  • Experience working with large software systems consisting of web interfaces, client-side interfaces and multiple integration points.


Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.

Written and spoken competence in English at an Advanced or Superior level is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Ability to Use Microsoft Office Technology, Software and Applications.
  • Sound knowledge/experience of AGILE Methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to diagnose root cause that impedes client efficiency and find innovative solutions to problems.
  • Leadership skills to mentor, motivate and provide guidance to project personnel.
  • Experience with the application development lifecycle.
  • Business Analyst Certifications such as IIBA-CBAP, PBA-PMI, IQBBA or equivalent.
  • Experience developing and scoring a RFP.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Periodic weekday evening and weekend work hours will be required.
  • Candidates will be required to undergo Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.

Salary: $66,924.00 to $93,470.00 annually – Pay Band 5 - Management and Non-Union Pay Plan
