Staff Accountant, Tax Group - St. John's
Noseworthy Chapman Chartered Professional Accountants are seeking candidates for the permanent, full-time position of Staff Accountant with the Firm's Tax Practice in St. John's, NL. As a member of the Tax Practice, you will play a key role in preparing and reviewing tax filings, supporting client engagements, and providing high-quality service to a diverse client base.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare and review personal, corporate, and trust tax returns.
- Prepare information returns and other required tax forms.
- Research and draft technical memorandums, client correspondence, and instruction letters.
- Review financial statements, accounting records, and related elements for a variety of entities, including professional corporations and family trusts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax assignments.
- Communicate with clients, tax authorities, and other advisors regarding tax matters.
- Follow up with tax authorities on assessments and ongoing files.
- Maintain client management and workflow systems within the tax department.
- Assist in identifying and developing new client service opportunities.
- Ensure all documentation meets professional standards for accuracy and completeness.
What You Bring:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA) or is currently working towards completion.
- 2-4 years of experience in tax or public practice accounting.
- A desire to complete the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm towards work.
