About Kaleidoscope Social Impact
Kaleidoscope Social Impact (KSI) is a national leader in social finance and community innovation based in Saint John, New Brunswick. Through our lending, real estate development, and training programs, we create inclusive economic opportunities and are addressing the housing crisis across Atlantic Canada. Our flagship vehicle, the KSI Social Impact Fund, mobilizes capital to finance affordable housing, social enterprises, and community development projects that transform lives and neighbourhoods. We're entering an exciting new growth phase to scale the fund and we're looking for a dynamic Fund Development Director to lead the way.
About the Role
The Fund Development Director will play a pivotal role in growing and sustaining the KSI Social Impact Fund. You will lead investor recruitment, build relationships with foundations, for-profit and non-profit organizations, and high-net-worth individuals, and expand our impact investment reach across Canada and deeper into our own Atlantic region. You will lead the design and execution of new investment models while nurturing current relationships and developing new ones, ensuring exceptional investor engagement, transparency, and reporting. This is a rare opportunity for a professional to shape the next stage of growth for one of Canada's original social finance organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to design new investment products that align with our social impact mission.
- Lead capital-raising efforts for the KSI Social Impact Fund, targeting impact investors, philanthropic foundations, non-profits with reserves, businesses and institutional partners.
- Develop and execute a national investor recruitment strategy, leveraging both traditional and digital channels.
- Identify and oversee innovative capital raising mechanisms, such as debt crowdfunding and bond offerings to attract community investors.
- Create and implement reporting and relationship management systems to strengthen investor confidence and retention.
- Promote Kaleidoscope at national conferences and impact investing forums, sharing our story and growing our visibility.
- Review and develop proposals, presentations, and communications for prospective investors and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fund development, impact investing, social finance, or investment management.
- Proven track record of raising significant capital, and building investor networks.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with experience engaging diverse investor types (foundations, HNWIs, institutions).
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial or social concepts into compelling narratives.
- Strategic thinker who can balance innovation with disciplined execution.
- Knowledge of key tools, such as community bonds, private debt instruments, crowdfunding models, or LP GP structures, considered an asset.
- Capacity to work in both official languages.
Why Join Kaleidoscope
At Kaleidoscope, you'll join a collaborative, entrepreneurial team that's redefining how communities access capital. You'll help shape a growing Fund that's unlocking millions for affordable housing and social enterprise across Atlantic Canada. We offer:
- One-year contract with possible renewal, based on achievements.
- A competitive compensation package that includes:
- a base salary of $75,000, plus staff benefits,
- quarterly bonus, based on secured investment values.
- Nurturing, flexible and enterprising work culture.
- Opportunity to innovate at the forefront of Canada's social finance ecosystem.
- Meaningful work that builds housing, livelihoods, and hope.
