Communications & Graphics Coordinator
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Communications & Development
Salary Range: $52,605 - $61,889

Position Overview:
As the Communications & Graphics Coordinator for Ronald McDonald House Maritimes, you will play a pivotal role in executing our communication strategies while providing dynamic support to the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the organization's messaging and image align with communications strategic priorities, while effectively advancing Ronald McDonald House's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communications:
    • Support in the execution of comprehensive communication strategies that promote Ronald McDonald House Maritimes' mission, values, and initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Communications, Development, and Program teams to ensure consistent messaging across various platforms, including digital, print, social media, and traditional media.
    • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and best practices to refine communication approaches and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Contribute to the creation and distribution of compelling content, such as press releases, newsletters, articles, and multimedia materials.
  • Social Media Management:
    • Coordinate Ronald McDonald House Maritimes' day-to-day social media presence, creating and curating engaging content that resonates with the target audience.
    • Implement social media campaigns to promote events, initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
    • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, and engage with followers to foster meaningful interactions.
  • Creative Document Development and Editing:
    • Review and edit various communication materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging.
    • Collaborate to design and develop visually appealing and impactful documents, presentations, and marketing materials.
    • Create and support editing of fundraising assets to support organization's development targets.
    • Create materials to engage and support Maritime families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
  • Website Support:
    • Support in keeping the Ronald McDonald House Maritimes' website up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with the organization's branding and communication goals.
    • Coordinate the creation, editing, and publishing of website content, including graphic elements, articles, blogs, and event announcements.
  • Media Relations:
    • Support relationships with local and regional media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
    • Help to coordinate media responses and interviews as necessary.
  • Brand Management:
    • Ensure consistency within the organization's brand identity, ensuring all communication materials adhere to established brand guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Certification and education in the Graphic Design, Web Design, or Communications field will be considered an asset.
  • Proven experience (minimum 1-2 years) in communications & graphics support, preferably in the non-profit or healthcare sector.
  • Strong understanding of communication strategies, digital platforms, and social media trends.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Experience using social media management tools and media tracking.
  • Experience with web content writing/updating websites and graphic design.
  • Ability to act autonomously, comfortably and consistently, exercise discretion, and show good judgement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for various audiences.
  • Proficiency in French will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in media relations and crisis communication.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the Maritime community landscape is an asset.
