Villa Acadienne Inc. is situated in the Municipality of Clare, Nova Scotia, an area celebrated for its rich Acadian culture. Villa Acadienne Inc. is committed to delivering high-quality care, services, support, and advocacy to 143 residents on 2 sites - the new Villa Acadienne provides services for 96 residents and Villa d'la Baie, and older facility, provides services to 47 residents. The Role: Director of Facilities - Full Time

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Facilities Services plans, directs and oversees all facility and property maintenance for both Villa Acadienne and Villa d'la Baie. The Director develops, implements and monitors preventive maintenance, procurement of equipment and supplies, and inventory management, in an environment compliant with Occupational Health and Safety standards and other related legislative standards (e.g. Long-Term Care Act; Homes for Special Care Act).

Role Overview:

  • Coordinates all facility maintenance and grounds work requirements to occupational health and infection control standards.
  • Manages budget for both facilities. Liaise with service providers and external contractors to maintain and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Oversees implementation and effectiveness of the Villa's Business Continuity and Emergency Management and Disaster Plans.
  • Handles the procurement and inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for facility operations.
  • Oversees all capital, renovations and site-specific projects
  • Maintain records of facility operations, including the status of ongoing work and completed tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in facility management, property management or a related field (college or university diploma preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of facility maintenance experience.
  • Experience working in an environment working with seniors is considered a definite asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., word, excel).
  • Knowledge of basic budget management and financial management to address risk management and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in French is considered an asset.
