Job Summary
The Secretary with the Cardiac Care Offices is responsible for provision of secretarial support to a medical doctor. The Secretary I will support and co-ordinate the clinical, administrative, academic, and research activities of the physician. The Secretary I will report to the Director of Cardiac Care and is responsible for carrying out the responsibilities as delegated by the physician and the director. This is a highly independent, autonomous position. Duties include organizing and recording administrative appointments; schedule management; telephone reception services; typing correspondence such as medical reports and minutes; liaison with the MPA for professional practice issues; co-ordination in support of academic responsibilities of the physician and collaboration with individuals involved with clerkship work; preparation for presentation material for teaching purposes; general office duties. Job Qualifications
Successful completion of a two-year Office Administration program OR completion of a one-year Office Administration program from an approved/recognized college supplemented by two years' experience within the last four in a progressively responsible clerical role is required.
Successful completion of an approved/recognized medical terminology course is required.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook, and Teams is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
*Proof of a current office administration program and a medical terminology is required. To be considered current, they must have been completed within the last five years, unless it has been used in recent positions. This must be demonstrated on the application form.
