Job Summary
The Centre for Nursing Studies (CNS), operated by the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, offers a continuum of educational opportunities including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Collaborative) Program, offered in partnership with Memorial University Faculty of Nursing (MUNFON) and Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON); a LPN Bridging option; a Practical Nursing (PN) Program; Re-entry Programs for RNs and LPNs; an Internationally Educated Nurse (IEN) Bridging Program, other international nursing initiatives; Post-Basic Programs/Courses for RNs and LPNs and practice support to nursing regulatory bodies and NLHS. The CNS employs approximately 90 faculty and staff on a full-time, part-time or sessional basis. On an annual basis, the CNS provides educational programs/courses to approximately 900 students.
The CNS is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual for the temporary, full-time position of Associate Director, Academic and Quality Initiatives. The successful candidate will provide leadership for all academic and quality assurance aspects of CNS nursing programs and will share in the overall administrative responsibility of the CNS. Primary responsibilities include: providing direction, leadership, and support to faculty/staff; fostering excellence in faculty teaching, scholarship, and professional service; providing leadership assistance to the Director in the administration of the CNS; developing and implementing a comprehensive Quality Initiatives plan that reflects the maintenance of program standards, adherence to accreditation and approval requirements; monitoring metrics for evaluating the efficacy and efficiency of designated curricula, programs, and clinical experiences, recommending and implementing revisions as needed; overseeing the psychomotor lab and simulation components of CNS programs, ensuring consistency, continuity and resourcing in the Instructional Resource Centre; leading the recruitment and orientation for faculty and staff; developing and maintaining a Human Resource Plan for the CNS; establishing performance expectations and participating in performance appraisal; fostering quality, innovation, and faculty scholarship within the CNS; providing feedback on faculty scholarship expectations; leading the Non-Degree Program Evaluation Committee; facilitating faculty and staff development; and leading the strategic planning process. Overall administrative leadership to the CNS includes participating in the recruitment of faculty/staff; assisting with the development of faculty teaching assignments; faculty/staff development; development of administrative policies and procedures; enhancing the CNS?s profile within the community; and other support to the Director.
Job Qualifications
Education
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree.
Eligibility for registration and ability to maintain registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
Experience
A minimum of five years' experience in nursing education or curriculum development is required, supplemented by a minimum of three years' experience in progressive leadership/management positions. Experience evaluating academic programs is required. Experience in program planning, managing projects of a complex nature, leading quality initiatives and leading teams is required.
