Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources plays a pivotal role in leading and executing day-to-day HR functions, including employee and labour relations, performance management, and the implementation of HR programs and best practices. This role is centered on fostering strong, collaborative relationships across teams, departments, and key partners.
With a focus on thoughtful and innovative leadership, the Manager is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing the HR Business Partnership team. They bring a strategic mindset to negotiations, decision-making, and problem-solving, while working closely with colleagues and clients to drive impactful HR initiatives that support the organization's goals.
What You'll Do:
- Be a trusted advisor to business leaders, offering expert guidance on HR strategy and employee relations.
- Shape the future of HR by proactively aligning workforce planning with business goals.
- Partner with senior leadership to analyze trends, interpret data, and deliver insights that drive meaningful change.
- Lead and mentor a client-focused HR team, empowering them through coaching, development, and performance support helping them achieve their goals.
- Oversee labour relations and contract administration, including grievance handling process.
- Champion positive workplace culture through best practices in employee relations and engagement.
- Provide strategic support on organizational change, conflict resolution, leadership development, and performance management.
- Drive recruitment excellence by designing and implementing consistent, effective hiring processes.
- Develop strategies to address attendance, return-to-work, and accommodation needs with empathy and effectiveness.
Professional Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related discipline, complemented by extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary HR teams in complex, multi-union environments.
- CPHR designation is considered an asset.
- A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in human resources, including at least five years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience working within unionized environments is required.
- Health care sector experience is preferred and considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Workday Human Capital Management systems is an asset.
- PMP certification and/or program management experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a strong focus on team development, strategic decision-making, effective problem-solving, and clear communication.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations to diverse audiences and influence key stakeholders.
- Advanced decision-making and analytical skills, with a track record of developing and implementing innovative solutions.
- A strategic thinker who can also execute effectively on operational and tactical priorities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders concurrently.
- Skilled in building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
- Sound judgment and discretion in navigating complex labour and employee relations issues, including crisis situations.
