Job Description:

The Protect group includes Cyber, Fraud, AML, and Corporate Security colleagues working together to protect the Bank and its customers from cybersecurity and fraud threats. Taking a platform approach enables us to look at threats holistically, manage threats comprehensively and enhance our unified protection approach for our customers.

The VP Business Assurance is responsible for driving people management, regulatory remediation, and risk mitigation across the Protect business line. Reporting to the EVP Protect, this role ensures that standards and procedures align with technology, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements. The VP partners with other lines of defense and audit teams to deliver regulatory change initiatives, prepares the organization for audits and exams, and develops materials for quarterly regulatory updates. By fostering collaboration across teams and sharing insights on remediation solutions, the VP helps maintain readiness for regulatory testing and supports the ongoing improvement of business assurance processes.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required Assists Protect EVP to resolve Regulatory findings or new rules/directives, including supporting our efforts to resolve any regulatory findings and/or related MRAs
  • Assists Protect EVP for remediation activities by ensuring alignment with new risk and control programs
  • Maintains standards and procedures in alignment with technology, legal, regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Implements and executes controls to mitigate risk generated across all Protect processes
  • Partners with 1B, 2LOD and Audit teams to ensure that Remediation-related change activities and delivered and executed within required timelines
  • Works across Protect teams to share insights on regulatory remediation solutions while also seeking out perspective from other
  • Proactively ensures exam and other testing readiness by Protect to improve self-ID rate and successful audits and exams
  • Develops and maintains Protect materials for quarterly updates to regulators
  • Develops action plans in coordination with 1B

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD) is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management or compliance within the financial services industry
  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams in a regulatory and risk-focused environment
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with data and technology-driven solutions for risk management
  • In-depth knowledge of AML regulations, fraud detection, and prevention frameworks.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) are a plus
