Garden Centre Supervisor
Are you passionate about plants, horticulture, and creating exceptional customer experiences? Scotian Gold is currently looking for a hands-on Garden Centre Supervisor to lead our seasonal team and support operations year-round. Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for coordinating seasonal planning, purchasing, merchandising, and day-to-day operations while ensuring a high standard of customer service and staff performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and professional customer service.
- Lead, coach, and support seasonal staff to deliver excellent customer service, meet performance expectations, and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Plan and order plugs, cuttings, trees, shrubs, and garden décor within budget.
- Coordinate seasonal planting to ensure we're ready for spring sales.
- Oversee daily operations including POS, cash handling, sales tracking, and reconciliation.
- Support marketing initiatives from promotions and signage to social media.
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards.
- Assist with store opening and closing duties, including display setup and takedown.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Passion for plants, gardening, and creating beautiful retail displays.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Experience delivering exceptional customer service and fostering a positive team culture.
- Computer proficiency (POS systems, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- First Aid and WHMIS training (TDG and Pesticide Vendors License considered an asset, training available).
- Horticulture Diploma or equivalent experience is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work on your feet for extended period.
