Payroll Associate

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team environment to take on a 9-month term in the role of Payroll Associate. You will join our client's payroll team that is made up of an energetic and positive group of professionals, providing opportunity to learn from and be supported by a wider group. They are active in the National Payroll Association and continuously stay up to date on industry developments, helping us to continuously improve processes.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and processing bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly payrolls in accordance with company policies, collective agreements, and legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Completing Records of Employment (ROEs), employment verifications, and responding to both internal and external stakeholder inquiries regarding payroll.
  • Assisting in processing year-end transactions, balancing, reporting, adjustments, and remitting T4s.
  • Participating in payroll related projects.
  • Leading certain continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining detailed records for audit purposes.
  • Internal control over financial reporting in accordance with the company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program.
  • Assisting ad hoc reporting, requests, projects, and processes as required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Previous work experience processing full cycle payrolls would be considered an asset.
  • A high level of customer service and excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing obligations.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft payroll software would be considered an asset.
