Now, we're excited to partner with East Coast Credit Union for a Director of Finance to help them take their financial operations to the next level.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance & Corporate Services, the Director of Finance provides strategic leadership and oversight of the accounting, payroll, and clearing functions, guiding the finance team to achieve operational excellence and support organizational goals. The incumbent ensures the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, annual budgets, and regulatory reporting, while maintaining compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
Responsibilities will include:
- Partner with the VP, Finance & Corporate Services to develop and execute corporate strategies through financial analysis, insights, and recommendations, including support for mergers, acquisitions, and asset/liability management.
- Lead the preparation and oversight of audited financial statements, note disclosures, and subsidiary financials in compliance with IFRS.
- Communicate complex financial decisions, including budget variances, cost controls, or risk mitigation strategies, to diverse audiences with clarity, transparency, and diplomacy.
- Oversee monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and regulatory reporting, as well as the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and consolidated reports.
- Lead the organization's accounting risk and control framework by maintaining robust policies, procedures, segregation of duties, and internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
- Recommend and implement process and control improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across financial operations.
- Oversee all core finance functions, including accounts payable, payroll, clearing, general ledger maintenance, subsidiary accounts, and funding support. Ensure all financial operations comply with regulatory and legal requirements while optimizing efficiency and member value.
- Provide direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the finance team to support professional growth, high performance, and achievement of business objectives and other related team & people leadership duties.
- Act as the primary liaison with system partners, regulators, and auditors, building strong, collaborative relationships.
- Other related duties as required.
As the ideal candidate you will possess:
- CPA designation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in progressive accounting/finance roles, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of budgetary and fiscal responsibility.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate taxation, accounting standards (IFRS), and regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to coach, delegate and foster a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner for all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with data systems, software applications and technology.
