Job Summary

Reporting to the Program Director for Long Term Care, the Regional Manager of Placement Services is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of placement services within the LTC Program based on the Single Entry Model. The successful applicant will also be involved in quality initiatives and special projects work including the long term care patient flow study, and wait list management.

In an interdisciplinary team environment, the incumbent coordinates services that are resident focused and ensures the best option for care within the available resources. The incumbent establishes linkages with stakeholder agencies to support appropriate care for clients awaiting placement to LTC regardless of location. The Regional Manager of Placement Services is a critical link and resource person for the community, acute care, rehabilitation, and mental health, providing a seamless delivery of long term care in the region.

The Regional Manager will be responsible for the day to day supervision and direction of Placement Services staff including Placement Coordinators and administrative support.

The Regional Manager of Placement Services works collaboratively with the management team within the LTC Program including Nursing Home and Personal Care Home Administration and has strong linkages to NL Health Services program directors and managers. The incumbent must have an effective working relationship with management and staff of the various programs and services of NL Health Services.

Job Qualifications

Education

Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Social Work or other health profession.

Current registration with the related professional association is required.

Master?s degree is preferred.

Experience

Three (3) years? experience in the past five (5) years? in client assessment and placement, community health care, long-term care, and/or geriatrics is required.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Demonstrated knowledge of Community Support, particularly program development, implementation and evaluation and community development/capacity building.

Knowledge of quality improvement and project management.

Knowledge of other community programs.

Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a high pressure, diverse and changing environment.

Demonstrated strong decision making, interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage and foster positive interpersonal relationships with various stakeholders.

Ability to work with a high degree of independence and initiative.

Other

A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver?s License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
