Job Summary

The Regional medicine Program is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Division Manager for the Medicine, Ambulatory Treatment and Chemotherapy Unit located in the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. Reporting to the Regional Director the Division Manager will be accountable for the efficient and effective planning, implementing, organizing, and evaluating patient care activities of the assigned services provided at the Burin Health Care Centre including a 22 bed Medicine Unit and the Ambulatory treatment and Chemotherapy Unit. The Division Manager will be responsible for the quality of services provided, as well as the effective and efficient utilization of resources. The management position participates in the clinical on-call coverage for the Peninsulas area.

The Division Manager will work within the NL Health Services Leadership Framework with accountabilities to engage others and lead self, achieve results, develop coalitions and implement systems transformations within the assigned areas of responsibility. These include working within the Divisions lines of business, fiscal and resource stewardship, managing and developing staff, effective communication, quality and risk management and health workplace management.

Constantly sits at a desk performing paper/computer work, answering telephone calls or emails; occasionally walks or stands to observe or to consult with other staff or sits conducting interviews.

Regularly performs fine finger/precision computer work requiring steadiness and accurate movement/control.

Visual and hearing concentration is required to observe or consult with staff, to work on documents or to listen to staff on the telephone or in person.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in a health related discipline is required.
  • Master?s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience within the last seven (7) years in adult acute. Previous leadership experience is required.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Knowledge of adult acute medical/surgical care and cancer care.
  • Knowledge of program development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and project management.
  • Knowledge of staff and patient safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong decision making, interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and foster positive interpersonal relationships with various stakeholders.

Other

  • Current registration with a professional association.
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
