Definition of Work:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible to provide comprehensive assessment and Holistic care to clients including health promotion, injury and illness treatment and prevention, supportive, curative, and rehabilitative care in any practice setting, Family Care Team (FCT) philosophy supports the delivery of care that is patient centered, comprehensive, team based, culturally sensitive, coordinated, accessible, and focused on quality and safety. This approach supports providers and care teams to meet patients where they are using an inter-professional collaborative approach where care is provided in the right place, at the right time, by the right provider in a manner that best suits the patient?s needs. The team will ensure patients are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion while enabling strong and trusting relationships with providers and staff. The Nurse Practitioner will be expected to practice to their full scope of practice to provide comprehensive assessment and care to clients and provide clinic leadership.

The successful applicant works independently in diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications, performing or ordering diagnostic tests and treatments, evaluating treatments and providing follow-up care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, including primary care physicians for issues outside the NP scope of practice. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person and family centered care, demonstrate commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve staff and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements. The NP will document using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR); work flexible hours including a combination of days, evenings, and weekends; and report to the Regional Manager of Primary Health Care. Travel throughout the region may be required.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for delivering a comprehensive range of services including, but not limited to: Primary Health Care Clinics; Family Care Team; Long Term Care; Personal Care Homes; and Community Settings.

Flexibility of coverage is required for this position. ****

Required Qualifications:
? Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program approved by NL Health Services.
? Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador
? Current BLS certification (Health Care Provider ? Heart and Stroke Foundation).
? CNA certification in Gerontology, or willingness to complete the next available course.
? Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) certification, or willingness to complete the next available course.
? Demonstrated knowledge of long-term care, personal care, community health, and acute care services.
? Demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and problem-solving skills.
? Strong oral and written communication abilities.
? Proven ability to work independently and effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
? Demonstrated initiative and sound professional judgment.
? Consistent demonstration of NL Health Services? core values: Innovation, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (ICARE)
? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance.
? A valid Class IV Newfoundland and Labrador Driver's License.
? A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred Qualifications:
? Minimum of one (1) year experience within the last three (3) years as a Nurse Practitioner in long-term care, personal care, acute care, and/or community health.
? Demonstrated proficiency using healthcare-based computer systems such as Meditech and CRMS.
? Completion (or willingness to complete) the next available course in:
o ACLS
o PALS
o TNCC
o NRP
