What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and includes leading money managers such as BlueBay Asset Management and Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management. RBC GAM provides global investment management services and solutions to institutional, high-net-worth, and individual investors through a diverse range of offerings, including separate accounts, pooled funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, exchange-traded funds, and specialty investment strategies.
As a key member of the RBC GAM Investment Solutions Leadership team, the Managing Director, Portfolio Solutions Support and Strategy is responsible for the oversight, strategic direction, and growth of RBC GAM's suite of Portfolio Solutions, which currently represents $171 billion in assets under management (AUM)—24% of RBC GAM's overall AUM and 46% of the Individual Investor AUM. This role will focus on distribution strategy and support of Portfolio Solutions, with a particular emphasis on the flagship RBC Select Portfolios, which accounts for $139 billion (81%) of the total Portfolio Solutions AUM. The Managing Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee strategic initiatives, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions to meet the evolving needs of clients and stakeholders.
What will you do
- Lead the development and execution of RBC GAM's Portfolio Solutions distribution strategy.
- Serve as a key product expert, ensuring a deep understanding of product features, performance, and positioning across all Portfolio Solutions.
- Work closely with distribution partners to develop and implement strategies that drive growth and strengthen market presence.
- Manage relationships with key distribution partners, including the EDS team and the Branch Network as well as collaborate with the Advisor Channel and National Accounts teams.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and other teams to ensure seamless execution of Portfolio Solutions strategies
- Partner with internal teams to develop digital tools and solutions that improve operational efficiency and client engagement.
- Analyze and communicate the performance of Portfolio Solutions by risk profile, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis of the Canadian Portfolio Solutions landscape, including product features, pricing, performance, and sales trends.
- Grow and lead a high-performing team.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 10+ years of investment / business experience
- University undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Knowledge and/or experience working within the Canadian Retail Banking industry
- Experience in developing and leading business initiatives
- Project management skills
- Strong understanding of financial and investment management concepts
- Knowledge of mutual fund industry and products with a focus on portfolio solutions
Nice to Have
- MBA or CFA
- Understanding of RBC GAM products is an asset
